How did the South feel about the civil war?

The South felt like they had to go into war. They had to protect their nation from the North who wanted to put their rule over the South. They wanted to keep slavery while the north wanted to take that away from them which drove the South to fight in what they believed in. They wanted to keep how things were the way they made it.
